D’ Mountainee­rs seize lead after a double in OFBC Friday Morning League

- JEDDAH: ARAB NEWS Team standings after the seventh week:

D’ Mountainee­rs scored a Team of the Week and ladies Bowler of the Week double with the lead to boot after the seventh session in the OFBC Friday Morning League Season 1 at the Ice Land Bowling Center.

D’ Mountainee­rs shut out Mixed Shots 20-0 and counting the rank points of 8 posted the week’s top total of 28 points.

The Mountainee­rs double was courtesy of Maloy Nidoy who shot the best score of 600 in her division on lines of 179, 169 and 144.

The seventh week result enabled Mountainee­rs to move up to first place in the standings although Jandel’s Pride played a part in the shakeup as it dealt erstwhile league leader Fed X Ally its second straight defeat in the tournament.

D’ Luf’s Strikers hauled in 21 points after a 16-4 shellackin­g of Nomac on total pinfalls of 2,6662,548 and rank points of 5-4 thanks to the quartet of Aileen Miralbuna 549, Jay Bengco 534, Raul Santoc 533 and Caloy Nuguit 523.

The two other matches both ended in 10-10 draws, between Pairs-Spares and D’ Cyclone on total pinfalls of 2,533-2,440 and rank points of 3-1 and between Flexibowl and Lance & 3rdy (2,867-2,798 10-9).

Besides owning the top overall output of 2,867 and third-best total of 20 Flexibowl produced the men’s Bowler of the Week in Class D Tirso Bambalan who rolled the high series of 654.

Team captain Cesar Pagtalunan tossed in 612 to support Bambalan, Danny Atubang had 539, Farida De Guzman 513 and Voi Ycong 149-191.

Mountainee­rs carded total pin- falls of 2,467 built around the contributi­ons of Nidoy, skipper Rudy Jamon 554, Rene Punzalan 528, Jun Baculod 159-150, Hadi Pacheco 177-165 and Lito delos Reyes 206-165.

Shirley Sagmit who along with Elo Manalo helped Lance achieve the first perfect grand slam of the tournament the previous week returned the top score of 584. Igna Salgado, Lance’s Class A player, fired 546 while Evelyn Santoc had 538 to go with the 534 by Manalo and 204-232 by Ric Reformado.

Bob Stone’s Jandel’s Pride, a 12-8 winner over Fed X Ally, used a single set of five players with Fred Cuenca leading the way on 595. Jana Delia Felesmina contribute­d 587, Archie Alcantara came through with 569, Usman de Guzman had 515 and Lexter Atienza 489.

Over at Pairs, the trio of Akang Victorino, Conrad Baltazar and Rey Beltran took charge with rounds of 525, 516 and 511.

With two blind scores D’ Cylone received 566, 564 nad 500 from Jack Jarin, Fatima Jintarat and Arman Gamboa.
