Abandoned Saudi found after 20 years among illegal expats
Authorities recently made a startling discovery while on the hunt for labor law violators in Makkah.
A Saudi man was found amid hundreds of illegal expats after reportedly being abandoned by his father with a random Nigerian lady when he was just seven days old.
Twenty-year-old Issam confessed his nationality after being transferred to the Shumaisy deportation center following a raid on the Mansour and Hidawiya neighborhoods, illegal expat strongholds in the holy city.
Issam, along with the countless other expats who had been trans- ferred to the center, did not have any form of ID or documentation to prove his identity.
The man was then taken to the Al-Mansour police station, where authorities launched an investigation into the peculiar story.
After lengthy investigation, police officials discovered that Issam had been handed over to the woman, who raised him over the years, because his father claimed to have problems with his mother.
The Nigerian woman, meanwhile, disappeared from the area and never reported the case.
Issam’s father reportedly tried to find his son after patching things up with his wife, but failed to find the woman when he went back to the same area four years later.
The man claimed that he had called the police at the time and that the mother has since continued the search for her lost son. But authorities asserted that he had never reported his son missing.
Issam’s biological father has been called in to prove kinship with his son for issuing official documentation.
Aati Al-Qurashi, Makkah police spokesman, has confirmed Issam’s identity.
Al-Qurashi also said that investigations are under way to further reveal the circumstances surrounding the case.
