Jubail opens recycling campaign

- JUBAIL: SULTAN AL-OTAIBI

The Royal Commission of Jubail (RCJ) has launched a month-long recycling campaign at Jubail Industrial City.

The campaign, launched under the slogan “Take part in change; recycle,” will run from Nov. 1 to 30 and is held in collaboration with the Al-Qaryan Group.

The campaign comes ahead of an international conference on the use of modern technology in recycling industrial waste, to be held here on Dec. 3 and 4.

Recycling containers with the campaign’s logo have been set up along main roads, supermarkets, malls, clinics, hospitals, schools, colleges and institutes.

Specialists from within the RCJ’s environmental department are embarking on inspection tours to ensure that the campaign is running smoothly.

Team members have also been liaising with teachers and supervisors at schools and companies to ensure that containers are emptied daily in order to prevent waste accumulation.

According to its organizers, the campaign aims to instill the concept of recycling among community members and eliminate mounting environmental hazards.

Recycling reaps countless environmental and economic benefits, according to experts, including conserving natural resources and preserving the environment, not to mention reducing waste within landfills.

Raising awareness on the importance of waste separation is vital, many have said.

Recycling also opens up new investment channels for businessmen to enter into an up and coming market, in addition to reducing reliance on imports and slashing the costs of hiring cleaning contractors.

According to department specialists, the benefits of recycling are not limited to preserving raw material, but also help conserve energy when producing new products since recycling old products consumes less energy than producing and making products from scratch.
