1st Hyundai Golf Tournament tomorrow at Nofa

- RIYADH: ARAB NEWS

Coming on the heels of a first major event, Nofa Golf Resort unveils its first tournament of 2015 with the staging of the 1st Hyundai Golf Tournament on Friday.

The two- ball Texas Scramble format competition with an 8 a. m. shotgun start attracted 46 teams and 92 players who will vie for handsome prizes at stake in the tournament sponsored by Hyundai Wallan Company.

Nofa Golf Resort owned by Prince Sultan Mohammed bin Saud Alkabeer held the 1st Annual Castrol- Nofa Golf Tournament on Oct. 24 last year with talented young golfer Christer Rem Sibug winning the Best Gross title.

Incidentally, the Filipino teen is returning for Friday’s event with his father Resty as the father- and- son tandem tries its luck against a formidable field with a number of good zero handicap players.

According to Eamonn Hanlon, general manager of Nofa Resorts, the club is now open for membership as it offers full service for the benefit of golf enthusiasts in Riyadh.

June Mark Tagud Mondilla is the newly arrived golf professional from the Philippines to handle golf lessons for interested individuals and the club restaurant has hired new chef in Gokarna Neupane who was formerly with Emirates Business Class catering, said Hanlon.

Going forward, Hanlon said Nofa is lining up full season of tournaments backed by corporate sponsors.

Part of the Nofa Resorts complex, the golf course is located some 85 kilometers west of Riyadh along the new Makkah highway. Originally conceived as a private oasis of tranquility and restful retreat, Nofa is being adapted for use as an exclusive leisure destination.
