Advance Co. Engineers flirt with perfect 36 in Globe Cup

Advance Co. Engineers made a case for a championsh­ip run after it went a point shy of a perfect score of 36 on the way to the Team of the Week title during the 13th session in the Thusday League 12th Conference for Globe Cup at the Bowling City in Sultanah Center here.

Gaining momentum after winning the first two games, the Engineers zeroed in on the 36 only to miss their bid by 1 pin to Bulacan Knight 998-997 in the third game.

But the 35 points were enough to push Advance to within a point of league leader Al Kabeer Frozen Foods in the team standings, as none came close to the Engineers’ prodigious display.

Al Kabeer couldn’t keep Engineers from eating into its lead when it settled on 28 points with Bulacan Knight on 25 followed by Lifebuoy 23 points, Alliance in Motion Global 20 and Habagat 18.

D’ Barkads, Al Murjana, which set the league’s first perfect 36 on the 11th week,

And Jedah 5KKB filled the last three spots on 16, 10 and 5 in that order.

The individual race for Bowler of the Week went to Mohd. Al Amari of Al Kabeer who rolled the high series of 695 on lines of 214, 247 and 210.

The duo of Sham Mustafa and team manager Richard Junio was at the helm of the Engineers’ torrid run with rounds of 678 and 632. Dylan Ilagan and Rene Punzalan added 590 and 580, while Pancho Cuevas returned 184-215 and Joel Nidoy had a solid one game of 198.

Bandar Al Dosary on 577 and Igna Salgado on 551 were the other players outside of Al Amari to complete three games at Al Kabeer, which also drew 205-216 from Gerry Mandanas, 180-180 from Daryl Loquias and 183-215 from Jowett Carrion.

Over at Bulacan Knight Mohd Najeem and Atoi Cruz carried much of the load on 638 and 621 to go with the 577 by Cesar Pagtalunan, 547 by Andy Yumena, 205-159 by Jeff San Pedro and 150 by Mao Orolfo.

Tom Langa owned the top score at Lifebuoy followed by Edwin Ronquillo 586, Lexter Doria 567 and Reggie Mendoza 525. Bash Langa contribute­d 170-180 and Robert Stone made 211.
