Islamic university graduates back action on Yemen

- MADINAH: ARAB NEWS

The 51st group of graduates from the Islamic University in Madinah were urged on Monday to protect their religion by avoiding acts that might divide Muslims.

Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman was among those who attended the ceremony in the city. Officials said the graduates and students backed the decision by the Kingdom to launch Operation Decisive Storm in Yemen.

Acting President of the University Ibrahim Al- Obaid thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Muqrin, deputy premier, and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, sec- ond deputy premier and interior minister, for their efforts to protect the nation from its enemies and help the oppressed people in Yemen. Al-Obaid thanked Prince Faisal for supporting the univer- sity. He told the graduates that their actions should be guided by the teachings of the Holy Qur’an, the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the examples of the pious and moderate early Muslim scholars. He said they should unite Muslims and not behave in ways that would divide the Ummah.

The 3,718 graduates were led by Dean of Graduate Affairs Abdul Aziz Al- Ahmedi, who said the graduates and students at the university supported the steps taken by the king to promote justice by launching Decisive Storm.

Abdullah Anbahi from the Philippines, who spoke on behalf of the graduates, thanked the prince for honoring them with his attendance. He said they learned a moderate way of life and discipline during their years at the institution.
