KSU cen­ter wins Khal­ifa award

RIYADH: The Cen­ter for Ex­cel­lence in Learn­ing and Teach­ing ( CELT) of the King Saud Univer­sity ( KSU) has been hon­ored with the Khal­ifa Award for ex­cel­lence in ed­u­ca­tion.

“In a qual­i­ta­tive achieve­ment, the CELT has ac­com­plished a lead­ing level by re­ceiv­ing the Khal­ifa Award for Ed­u­ca­tion in 2016 at the cre­ative ed­u­ca­tional projects and pro­grams cat­e­gory in the Arab world coun­tries,” an of­fi­cial from the KSU me­dia de­par t ment said Sun­day. The award was given to the CELT for the Promis­ing Teach­ers Pro­gram of the cen­ter.

“The CELT has been con­sid­ered for its ac­tiv­i­ties and pro­grams that have con­trib­uted di­rectly to achiev­ing the ex­pec­ta­tions of stu­dents and fac­ulty mem­bers,” the of­fi­cial said.

He said that while con­fer­ring the award, the gen­eral sec­re­tar­iat of Khal­ifa Award ac­knowl­edged the rich con­tri­bu­tion of the cen­ter, adding that this success of the CELT will raise the level of ed­u­ca­tion in univer­si­ties in the en­tire Arab world.

Saud Nasser Al- Kathiri, di­rec- tor of the cen­ter and as­sis­tant vice rec­tor for ed­u­ca­tional and aca­demic af­fairs for ed­u­ca­tional de­vel­op­ment, ex­pressed hap­pi­ness on be­half of the en­tire team for win­ning the award, which ac­cord­ing to him has been ac­com­plished by the great sup­port of KSU ad­min­is­tra­tion.

“The con­tin­u­ous ef­forts of our col­leagues at the cen­ter and the fac­ulty mem­bers who par­tic­i­pated in CELT’s pro­grams have opened many op­por­tu­ni­ties and pos­si­bil­i­ties for the cen­ter to pros­per and suc­ceed,” he said. The award is given by the UAE g o v e r nment with the aim of ush­er­ing in a new dy­namism in the ed­u­ca­tional process, in tune with con­tem­po­rary ad­vance­ments in sci­en­tific knowl­edge and in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy to en­rich the de­vel­op­ment in the ed­u­ca­tional field and pro­vide for an effective in­ter­ac­tion be­tween lo­cal, Arab and in­ter­na­tional con­trib­u­tors to the field.

The award is spon­sored by the UAE pres­i­dent and su­per­vised by the sec­re­taries coun­cil headed by the deputy prime min­is­ter.

The award is pop­u­lar in the Arab World and in­volves many fields in gen­eral and higher ed­u­ca­tion in par­tic­u­lar.
