Al-Max, Lothers, Young Star, Kanoo Logistics enter quarters

JEDDAH: Al-Max Cricket Club, Lothers Cricket Club, Young Star and Kanoo Logistics qualified for the quarterfin­als of the ninth day-night Jotun Paints Champions Trophy organized by the Tellicherr­y Cricket Forum (TCF), at the BMT floodlit ground, Sitteen Street.

Tournament favorite Lothers Cricket Club crushed Arcoma Crown by eight wickets. Arcoma won the toss and put on 92 for five in 10 overs. Opener Dinesha Raju remained unbeaten on 28 and Mohammed Ayazuddeen scored 19. Hussain Rizwi took two wickets.

Opener Waqas Ali single-handedly won the match for Lothers as he scored a match winning 70 off 20 balls, which won him the man of the match award.

Former champion Young Star got the better of a strong Jotun Penguins by six wickets. Put into bat, Young Star bowlers restricted Jotun to 81 from the stipulated 10 overs. Ramzan Ali scored 26 and Mohammed Shams 21. Furkhan and Abu Huraira took a wicket each.

In reply, Amir Siddique scored at will for 47 not out from 22 balls with seven sixes. Waqas Ahmed grabbed two wickets for Jotun. Siddique was the man of the match.

Al-Max Cricket Club thrashed UTSC KPL by 58 runs. Opting to bat first, Al-Max were bowled out for 117 in 9.3 overs. It reached 41 in just 2.5 overs. Mohammed Sarfan scored 32 from 13 balls and Zaheer 19 from 11. Assim Shahid hit 18. Hisham Taha recorded a hat trick and Nirshad bowled brilliantl­y for four wickets.

In reply, Al-Max bowlers restricted UTSC KPL to 59 in 10 overs. Assim Shahid took five wickets and won the man of the match award.

Kanoo Logistics defeated Pepsi Alliance by seven wickets. Pepsi won the toss and put on board 96 runs. Humayoon scored 29 runs and Mazhar Abbasi 20. Safayar took three wickets for Kanoo Logistics.

Safayer and Farsath attacked the Pepsi bowlers from the start. Kanoo chased down the target in 8.3 overs for the loss of three wickets. Farsath remained not out on 40 and Safayer made 29. Safayar was match of the match. Brief scores: Orbital Horizon beat Hyd Royals by 5 wickets. Hyd Royals 108-7: ( Joynal Abedin 51, Mannan Ul Haq 19 ; Muddassir 22-2, Assim Nazir 38-2) lost to Orbital Horizon 112-5 in 9.4 overs :(Umair Saeed 32, Muddassir 22; Imthiaz Ali 26-3).
