Amman, Riyadh sign deals worth billions of dollars

AMMAN: Saudi Arabia and Jordan signed Monday a number of agreements, Memoranda of Understand­ing (MoUs) and joint investment deals worth billions of dollars. King Salman and Jordan’s King Abdallah attended the signing ceremony.

Earlier, King Salman was warmly welcomed at Marka airport by a high-level Jordanian delegation led by King Abdallah.

A lavish ceremony, complete with cannon salute and guards on camel back, was given in honor of the Saudi king, who began Monday a three-day visit of Jordan as head of the Saudi delegation to the Arab Summit.

King Salman’s visit is his first since he acceded to the throne more than two years ago, and a valuable addition to the already strong ties between the two countries. King Abdullah greeted him on the tarmac of Marka airport.

King Abdallah tweeted on his personal account: “I welcome my brother King Salman, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in his home and among his family.”

Jordan’s Minister of Trade and Industry Yaroub Al-Qudah said Saudi investment­s in Jordan, which exceed $10 billion, have boosted Jordan’s economy and created thousands of jobs.

Saudi Jordanian Business Council (SJBC) member Reem Badran underlined the importance of King Salman’s visit in reinforcin­g strong bilateral ties.
