Shadow Bowlers,Velocity,Youngsters advance to stepladder finals
JEDDAH: Shadow Bowlers along with Velocity Strikers and Youngsters made it to the stepladder finals after they survived the shootout to complete the six-team cast that will vie for the major prizes in the OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.
During the three games series with handicap shootout featuring the remaining seven teams to miss outright places for the stepladder phase of the competition, Shadow Bowlers finished as No. 4 on 2,048 pinfalls followed by Velocity at No. 5 on 2,003 and Youngsters at No. 6 on 1,903.
Of these three qualifiers Youngsters were one of the three teams to not win a Team of the Week award, and to add to the surprise, the winningest of them all, Expendabowls, failed to advance to the knockout stage of the four-man team league event.
Expendabowls, with five Team of the Week victories, instead finished eighth on 1,829, right behind Al-Tayyer Contracting on 1,875.
Saudi German Hospital and Arci-5, which both missed team honors, wound up ninth and 10th on 1,740 and 1,605 respectively.
Hadi Pacheo and Jhun Ejanda were Shadow’s main men with efforts of 530 and 518 that went with the 493 by Rosalie Due Agustin and 381 by Hercie Bosito.
For Velocity, the scorers were Jaime “Paco” Flores on 566, Rudy Valenzuela on 508, Vangie Lim on 488, Rhyan Tasic on 306 and Toto Lim on 135.
Over at Youngsters the quartet of Vic Gonzales, Carol Rio, Jeff Magallanes and Bonnie Maelom built the team’s total on 485, 478, 474 and 466 in that order.
In the first match of the stepladder teams ranked fourth to sixth, Shadow Bowlers, Velocity and Youngsters, play two games series with handicap with the top team advancing opposite No. 3 RTJ Baguio Transit House.
The winner of the second match then moves on to another knockout game against No. 2 Nilobabes for the right to challenge No. 1 Toshi in the championship match where Toshi has a twice to beat privilege.
