Jeddah Engineers win 40 and above title in Titan Watch–JBL tourney
JEDDAH: The Jeddah Engineers of Coach Naif Lim beat Eagles 87-74 to win the 40 and above title in the Titan Watch–JBL Invitational Basketball Tournament at Nazeeh and Wartah Park court in Khalidia district here.
It was a tight ballgame up to the last minute. But then the Eagles lost steam in the dying seconds to open the way for the Engineers’ victory.
Quiroz top-scored with 29 points for Jeddah Engineers and was adjudged as the Titan Watch best player of the game while Kit Santos tallied 23 points for the Eagles.
The tournament is mainly sponsored by Titan Watch of Al-Hussaini & Al Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al-Husssaini). The co-sponsors are Giordano Fashions (Ahmadullah) and KGT Kabayan Gents Tailoring.
Sunbullah of team manager Randy Palad defeated the Blazers 93-81. Sunbullah’s offense was unstoppable in the final quarter. The Blazers missed important shots in the crucial minute of the game. Tablatin had 33 points for Sunbullah and was adjudged as the Giordano best player of the game while Garcia chipped in 31 points for the Blazers.
The Brawlers beat Robert & Friends 69-66. The Brawlers went to the open man in the face of Robert & Friends’ tough defense in the fourth quarter. Agustin scored 16 points for the Brawlers and was adjudged as JBL best player of the game while Malang had 26 points for Robert & Friends. In the Parents Division, the Siglahi Blue of Coach Angel Palaypayon defeated Laon-Alab Yellow 96-91. Jose collected 31 points and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game. The Bagwis Red of Coach Rey Maddatu beat Danglahi Green 110-85. Lizstian Amparado scored 27 points and was adjudged as the Titan Watch best player of the game.
The Mosquito Blue of Coach Chris Nullan defeated Gray 54-47. Isaac Esqueta scored 36 points. The Mosquito Yellow of Coach Cruz beat White 61-53.
Meanwhile, the JBL Teens Juniors won the championship in the 17 and under category in the 2017 Hajj DBL Regional Basketball Tournament held at Al-Gosaibi Sports Complex in Alkhobar. JBL’s Mohammed Acub was adjudged as Most Valuable Player, Prince Del Rosario Best Forward and Densel Dolloso Best Guard. The JBL delegation’s Teens Midget and Mosquito both finished second runner-up in U-14 and U-12 categories.
