Humanitarian aid to Yemen is KSA’s ‘top priority’
Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, supervisor general of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), said that the Kingdom was the largest humanitarian donor to Yemen, and that its response to the first donor conference for Yemen in 2015 was evidence of that.
He said the humanitarian needs of Yemen were a top priority for the Kingdom, praising the deep and common historical, religious, economic and social ties between the two countries.
This came in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency on the occasion of KSRelief ’s 2020 Donors Conference for Yemen, in partnership with the UN. The event, to be held virtually on June 2 under the directives of King Salman, is an extension of Saudi Arabia’s global humanitarian and development contribution.
The UN said that the aim of the event is to raise some $2.4 billion to pay for the world’s biggest aid operation in Yemen.
Al-Rabeeah also expressed his hope that the conference would receive attention from the international community and donors worldwide, despite the economic crisis and the coronavirus pandemic, and that the goals of the conference would be reflected on the ground in Yemen.
