Steve Irwin

-

The late Steve Irwin’s daughter Bindi has authored a book to honor her father’s conservation work, titled: “Creating a Conservation Legacy.”

The book reflects on life of the “Crocodile Hunter,” how he built Australia Zoo and how he made the Irwin name into what it is today. The book is based on his journals and photos.

Bindi shared the news on her Instagram on Sunday by posting photos of herself and family with the book, revealing in captions that she spent five years capturing the spirit of her father for the book. “Almost five years in the making. Looking through countless archives, dad’s old journals, Australia Zoo booklets and photographs tucked away in office corners. It’s finally here,” she said. “I wrote this book to capture the very essence of our extraordinary history. Now, I’m sharing this journey with you.”

According to the description on the website, the book “takes you on the amazing journey from humble beginnings through to where we are today — effecting change in our own backyard and around the globe. It’s a substantial story that includes hundreds of photos from the Irwin family archives — many that have never been seen before.”

Bindi decided to share the news on Nov. 15, Steve Irwin Day, which was established to honor Steve and celebrate his life and legacy. She also honored her father by sharing several photos of him on an Instagram story.

Her brother Robert also took a moment to honor their father by sharing a photo of them together. He said: “Happy Steve Irwin Day. Thinking of everything Dad was about today — wildlife, conservation, and most of all, family.”

The book is available on the Australia Zoo website for $100. The first 500 sold will be signed by Bindi.
