The hashtag #BlackMamba was on Tuesday trending worldwide on Twitter in support of the newly formed girl group, Aespa. South Korean agency, SM Entertainment, released the female popsters’ debut single
“Black Mamba,” introducing the group’s members consisting of Koreans, Karina and Winter, Giselle from Japan, and Ningning from China.
The name Aespa, stylized as æspa, is a combination of ae composed of the English initials of avatar and experience, and the word, aspect, meaning two sides, which symbolizes “meeting another self and experiencing the new world.”
The lyrics of the song introduce the world of Aespa in a storyline in which a black mamba, the world’s second-longest highly venomous snake, is the villain threatening the world and blocking the connection between Aespa members and their æ avatars.
The song attracted more than 3.5 million views within three hours. The music video ends with a teaser for fans showing a mystery girl emerging from mud.
