King Salman has donated SR20 million ($5.3 million), and Crown

Prince Mohammed bin Salman SR10 million, to the National Campaign for Charitable Work, which was launched on Friday

It will operate through Ehsan, the recently introduced National Platform for Charitable Work, which was developed by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) with the support of the crown prince, who chairs its board of directors. Scholars, senior officials and many business figures have backed the campaign, which will continue throughout Ramadan. It aims to publicize the role of Ehsan in promoting the values of charitable work in society by encouraging donations.

In addition, it seeks to empower the nonprofit sector to expand its reach, encourage greater social responsibility in the private sector, and contribute to enhancing the reliability and transparency of charitable and developmental activities.

“We take pride in what our dear country, Saudi Arabia, has achieved in terms of leadership in various fields,” said SDAIA President Abdullah Al-Ghamdi. “Since its unification, the Kingdom has been known for its generous contributions in the charitable and humanitarian fields.

“The interest of the Kingdom’s leaders in considering citizens’ needs and practicing regular charitable work is also well known; this is what we are used to in our giving country. And complementing the launch of the Ehsan platform, the campaign aims to promote social responsibility among individuals and enterprises, raise

the efficiency of developmental work, and reinforce the values of national belonging and humanitarian activities for both individuals and institutions.”

He added that the support of the king and crown prince reflected their commitment to ensuring the well-being of all people in the country, and to encouraging charitable donations.

“By establishing this platform, which has become a turning point in the field of charitable work, and announcing the campaign, the Kingdom has set an example to the world on how to utilize technology to alleviate suffering and improve the quality of life,” said Al-Ghamdi. “The National Campaign for Charitable Work will include various Saudi regions throughout the month of Ramadan. The campaign, which is the largest of its kind in the Kingdom, includes the participation and support of regional governors, charities and the private sector, as well as the Saudi society, which always supports and encourages philanthropic campaigns during Ramadan.”

He said that the Kingdom has been a pioneer in the field of charity since the nation was founded by King Abdul Aziz, and added: “The Ehsan platform was established to help donations reach their beneficiaries easily, conveniently and promptly. It is considered the latest advanced technological initiative, with the highest professional standards that supports and organizes charitable work in the Kingdom.”
