Britney Spears slams ‘hypocritical’ documentaries
US pop icon Britney Spears took to Instagram this week to slam documentaries that explore her life and career.
The 39-year-old star shared a video of herself dancing at home and wrote: “So many documentaries about me this year with other people’s takes on my life... what can I say… I’m deeply flattered. “These documentaries are so hypocritical,” she added.
Spears said that despite the tough times in her life, there were “way more amazing times. Why highlight the most negative and traumatizing times in my life from forever ago?”
In February, The New York Times released a documentary titled “Framing Britney Spears.” The film, directed by Samantha Stark, explores Spears’ life since she was a child, charting a rise to fame hampered by misogyny, vicious press reporting and personal mishaps, as well as her father’s conservatorship control over her finances.
