Namjoon goes live

South Korean boy group BTS’ lead singer RM on Monday went live on the V Live app to talk on a range of subjects.

The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kim Namjoon, started the broadcast by adjusting the light and camera angle to show off his new hairstyle and ask if fans approved of it.

The star said he was in the middle of shooting another scheduled program and had decided to chat with fans during a 30-minute break. “First things first. I’d like to thank you for the seven weeks at #1 on BBHOT100 (the Billboard chart). It’s amazing. It’s still feeling like we’re living in dreams and it’s all thanks to you guys,” he added.

During a short question and answer session toward the end of the broadcast, one fan asked RM if he thought the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic would be over by next year. He said: “Please just... Oh, I was about to curse. Get the hell out. COVID, get the hell out.”

As soon as the live broadcast started, the name Namjoon was trending at No. 1 on Twitter around the world with the phrase, “get the hell out” later becoming a top trend on the platform.
