The upcoming fourth instalment of the “Matrix” movie series has a title and its first trailer.

The first hint of what “The

Matrix: Resurrections” has in store was unveiled by Warner Bros. at CinemaCon, but the trailer is not yet available for public viewing.

According to Deadline, the trailer shows a therapist, played by Neil Patrick Harris, talking to Keanu Reeves’ character Thomas Anderson, also known as Neo, who discovered that humans were trapped in a simulated reality called “the matrix,” and became destined to liberate them over the course of the first three movies.

The Hollywood Reporter added that in the trailer, Neo senses something is wrong with the world he now lives in, from coming across people he believes he knows but cannot recognize to spotting strange behaviors in those around him, and tells the therapist the he “had dreams that weren’t just dreams.”

Several of the few lucky CinemaCon attendees to see the trailer called it “stunning” and “impressive.”

The American film critic Scott Menzel shared his opinion on Twitter in a post that read: “I just saw the trailer for ‘The Matrix: Resurrections’ at CinemaCon and it looks so badass. I was so worried that it wasn’t going to WOW me but I was totally wrong. The only thing that shocked me is that a few of the main characters don’t appear in the trailer. #TheMatrix4”

Besides Reeves and Harris, the movie also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. It is directed by Lana Wachowski.

It is not yet known when the trailer will be available for the public, but

“The Matrix: Resurrections” is set to be released on Dec. 22.
