Michael Parkinson
English broadcaster, journalist and author Sir Michael Parkinson released his second book, which reflects on his childhood. Appearing Monday on “Good Morning Britain,” hosted by Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley, Parkinson discussed his latest book and talked about the art of answering interview questions.
“It takes some doing to be frank in an interview, to answer the questions properly and not try to be delicate around certain subjects,” he said. “You’ll be aware of that as the interviewer as well. It’s a fascinating subject and it’s not just a question of reading the research. There’s lots of other things that come into it.”
He also said that he enjoys watching interviews nowadays, “especially when they don’t get it right,” and when asked whom he would like to interview, he answered, “Vladimir Putin.”
On Parkinson’s book, “My Sporting Life: Memories, Moment and Declarations,” host Madeley told the author: “It’s brilliant. It’s a really good read. I’m learning a lot about you that I didn’t know.”
The memoir details how Parkinson’s father gave him his love for sports, which, he said “can teach us important lessons about ourselves.”
