Foxx has quashed rumors that he was left paralyzed and blind after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. The actor, who was hospitalized in April for an unspecified medical problem, said he was recovering well and had not had an adverse reaction to the jab.

The statement came after gossip columnist A.J. Benza claimed on Dr. Drew’s online show that Foxx had a blood clot in his brain caused by the vaccine, which he was allegedly pressured to take by the producers of his Netflix film “Back in Action.”

Benza said he had a source “in the room” who told him that Foxx was partially paralyzed and blind as a result of the clot.

The conspiracy theory was quickly picked up by anti-vaccine activists and right-wing figures, who used it to spread misinformation and fear about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.

Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, said in May that her father had been out of hospital for several weeks and was even playing pickleball.

The actor addressed the rumors in a video posted on his Instagram account on Thursday, in which he appeared healthy and cheerful. He thanked his fans for their prayers and support and said he was doing fine.

He said his medical issue was unrelated to the vaccine but did not elaborate.

“I’m not going to go into details, but it was something that could have happened to anyone,” he said.

“I’m lucky that I got help when I did and that I’m recovering well. I’m feeling good, I’m working hard and I’m looking forward to getting back to what I love.”

He urged his fans to ignore the conspiracy theories and get vaccinated if they could.
