Will Smith

-

American actor and producer Will Smith gave fans a big surprise during J Balvin’s Sunday night show at Coachella. Smith performed a rendition of his 1997 hit “Men in Black” with the Colombian singer on his UFO-themed set.

The crowds could be heard raving with excitement once Smith shouted “Coachella!”

The actor, who wore the trademark black suit and matching sunglasses, rapped the track, while backup dancers — some of whom wore green alien outfits while others also had black suits — performed behind him.

The two-minute appearance, which brought an old-school hip-hop vibe to the festival, ended with two men in black dragging J Balvin to the side of the stage and Smith using the Neuralyzer, a memory-erasing flash pen. The prop was used in the movie to erase the memories of people who witness alien activities, in addition to wiping out the memories of agents ready to retire. “Men in Black” made $250.7 million at the domestic box office (not adjusted for inflation), and spawned three sequels: 2002’s “Men in Black II,” 2012’s “Men in Black 3” and 2019’s “Men in Black: International,” the latter of which was considered a standalone movie set in the same universe but did not feature Smith.

Fans could not believe what they witnessed and took to X to share their surprise, with one asking, “Are we in a simulation?” while another bewildered fan asked: “J Balvin brought out Will Smith at Coachella to perform ‘Men in Black?”

One fan watching the performance from home wrote: “For real though, if I was at this concert and Will Smith came out and did ‘Men in Black,’ I might cry,” Another added: “I would have lost my mind if Will Smith came out the ground and did ‘Men in Black.’”

One fan posted: “Will Smith still got it. He wowed the crowd as he surprisingly performed ‘Men in Black’ with J Balvin.”

Another chimed in: “Will Smith needs to go on tour … look at how lyrically sharp and present

he is at 55.”
