Chinese Festivals
The most common Chinese festival is the Chinese New Year. Also known as the Lunar New Year, celebrations begin on the eve of the first day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, where families gather together for ‘reunion dinner’. Celebrations for this festival last for another fifteen days where families and friends visit each other and exchange auspicious well-wishes for the new year ahead. During this festival, the most auspicious colour is red and children are blessed by their elders with red packets or hongbaos.
