SOLE MATES
From chunky outsoles to high tops inspired by tarot, you will likely find your ideal walking companion in our curated list of sneakers
From the Golden Era of Basketball
Louis Vuitton first debuted its 408 Trainers in 2019, when Virgil Abloh took the helm of the brand’s men’s collection. Abloh took inspiration from the vintage basketball shoes and infused retro appeal into Louis Vuitton signatures and innovations.
Since their release, the trainers have gained hype and quickly became an iconic shoe model for the Maison. For Pre-Fall 2021, Louis Vuitton reiterated the sneakers in various colours, with a Monogram embossed grained calf leather and smooth calf leather trim. And as a luxury brand that promises nothing but style and quality, it had the shoes elaborately constructed and finished with its famous initials. Other notable elements include a Monogram flower on the rubber outsole.
See the Future in Christian Louboutin’s Tarot Sneakers
Christian Louboutin has always drawn inspiration from the places he visits ‒ almost like a modern-day Marco Polo. The designer collects ideas and integrates them with his love of folk arts and traditional craftsmanship. As part of the Caracaba collection, his eponymous brand is debuting its exclusive Tarot print. Inspired by the famed Tarot de Marseille deck, this highlights selected cards from the Major Arcanas and features on selected bags and shoes. However, the design takes precedence on the high-top Louis Orlato and Louis Junior Spikes Orlate Sneakers, giving a fresh update to the brand’s staple shoe style. Not to mention, the latter also features a fully spike-studded toe box, elevating its modish appeal.
Valentino Embodies Romantic Punk
If you find this series of sneakers familiar, it’s because you have probably seen the Valentino Garavani Roman Stud line. Taking design cues from the iconic series, the Italian house combines its Nappa leather maxi quilting and studs to produce the ultimate kicks of the season: the Valentino Garavani One Stud Sneaker. The uniquely Valentino studs are an unconventional expression that defines the Valentino community, imbued with a romantic, punk and certainly non-conformist attitude. The juxtaposition of sophistication and punkrock influences offers modernity to the timelessness of Valentino elegance.
Luxury Leisurewear from Zegna
The Italian brand has reimagined its sophisticated shoe collection to present the next step forward in the Zegna footwear evolution. For Summer 2021, artistic director Alessandro Sartori reinterprets artisanal construction methods and iconic shoe silhouettes from a new perspective. Tapping on lightweight materials and classic colours, Zegna updates its signature Triple Stitch Sneaker while still maintaining it as an icon of the brand. Defined by its laceless and slip-on construction, it is now even more effortlessly stylish than ever, thanks also to the breathable and lightweight canvas. Presented in a versatile range of colours, it elevates the wearer’s experience in both elegance and functionality.
