INSPIRED BY HOW DRAMATICALLY our relationship with the outdoors has changed over the past year, the 5 Moncler Craig Green SS 2021 collection celebrates a renewed freedom of connection, embracing the possibilities within the natural world to propel us forward. “Even the mere act of being in nature now feels transformative,” said Craig Green in a statement.

Functional, with harmonious forms that please the eye, the collection employs a futuristic and forward-looking approach to apparel for the outdoors. Green pushes a pragmatic take on garment-making and a keen reflection on function through an intensely imaginative vision. Keeping practicality and wearability in mind, the designer devised a modern range of lightweight ready-to-wear pieces that revolve around the idea of juxtaposition: transparent/ opaque, quilted/plain, matte/shiny, water/ land. It embraces differences and contrasts while finding the right balance in between.

Windbreakers and jackets come in lightweight cotton and nylon, and uniform jackets are cut in sturdy cotton and paired with chinos ‒ favouring shapes connected to the realms of utility and uniform. Quilting patterns emerge on cropped blousons, long parkas and shirt jackets. Sneakers, monogrammed bags and wallets complete the collection.

Intrinsically Moncler, the collection tapped on matte and shiny fabrics, ripstop nylons in a palette of earthy tones with highlights of red, yellow, orange, tangerine, electric blue. A new monogram shapes the identity of the collection: its thick coiling lines have a zoomorphic effect, imparting the impression of a platypus or a frog, but intentionally left ambiguous. The smooth, fluid monogram is symbolic of rhythmic and symmetrical structures in nature, and depicts harmony with the phenomena of the physical world. This amphibious ego is realised in the form of sculptural rafts based around the monogram ‒ the symbol of 5 Moncler Craig Green.
