GOLDEN JUBILEE
Cortina Watch celebrates a 50-year partnership with a Limited Edition Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref 5057G
ANNIVERSARIES ARE IMPORTANT THINGS, especially when they celebrate a half- century long relationship. Since Cortina Watch’s founding in 1972, it has represented one of the most respected brands in Swiss watchmaking ‒ Patek Philippe. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of its founding as well as five decades of partnership with Patek Philippe in the region, Cortina Watch ‒ now one of Southeast Asia’s biggest watch retailers ‒ is offering a limited edition Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 5057G.
With just 100 pieces, the new white gold Ref 5057G- 010 produced specially for the Golden Jubilee features the same triple row guilloched “Clous de Paris” hobnail bezel as the first model created for Cortina Watch in 1997, in commemoration of its 25th anniversary. This time, the Calatrava is dressed in a simple, yet elegant grey and silver palette.
Exquisite in execution, a charcoal grey sunburst dial with a blackgradient rim, white transfer-printed Roman numerals and white gold, pear- shaped hands, the 50th anniversary limited edition Calatrava differs from traditional retailer editions by way of having complications instead of the usual time-and- date- only variants. Powered by the Calibre 240 PS IRM C LU, the display indicates the date, moon phases and power reserve on two subdials, with a small seconds indication between the four and five o’clock hour markers. The ultra-thin, self-winding movement has a 48-hour power reserve and can be viewed through the transparent sapphire caseback, which bears a commemorative inscription “Cortina Watch 50th Anniversary Since 1972” in white.
By retaining the aesthetic codes of the 25th anniversary Calatrava, but updating it with an almost monochromatic livery, the 50th anniversary edition enjoys a more timeless aesthetic.
