New Horizons
Norqain, the watch industry’s youngest, fully independent, family-owned Swiss watch company, has a nose for adventure
FOUNDED IN 2018 by industry veteran Marc Küffer and son Ben Küffer, Norqain has actually been making timepieces for close to five decades. Watchmaking clearly runs in the family. What also runs in the blood of the Küffers is the love for adventure, and mountain climbing, which is why Norqain’s mechanical watches display that bold sense of authenticity, uniqueness and even a rebellious character.
Norqain’s latest Adventure Neverest Night Sight calls upon the collection’s connection to Mount Everest to bring a positive impact on the climbing industry in partnership with the Butterfly Help Project. For the very first time, this new collection houses the chronometer grade Norqain Manufacture Calibres developed in partnership with Kenissi, a distinguished Geneva-based mechanical movement manufacturer founded by Tudor
‒ a true marvel to behold for the young and growing Swiss watch manufacturer.
Crafted in stainless steel DLC coated for a stealthy all-black appearance, the 40mm Norqain Adventure Neverest Night Sight comes in a size that is ideal for a modern sports watch. It also has a versatile look that wears exceptionally well in just about every situation. Accompanying the stealthy DLC steel bi-directional 24-hour rotating compass-engraved bezel is a stunning sand coloured dial treated with powerful X1 SuperLumiNova that glows 60 per cent brighter than standard Super-LumiNova treatment.
Freedom 60 Chronograph Creme
For those looking for something dressier, the 43mm Freedom 60 Chronograph double anti-reflective, scratch-proof “box” sapphire glass conveys a little retro-classicism without appearing dated. At 15mm thick, the chronograph possesses quite the wrist presence but its otherwise hefty build is toned down by refined elements like a meticulously finished case with high mirror polishing across the top of the lugs and case flanges as well as a highly-polished chamfer along the elegant lugs, reflecting the brand’s close attention to detail.
Its mesmerising off-white dial displays superb legibility but also exhibits finer details with the three matching subdials, each sloped beautifully, with each corresponding markings are applied. A set of hand applied and finished faceted hour indices accompanied by syringe pointer hands, are exemplars in the brand’s commitment to fine watchmaking ideals. Overall, it’s an enduring look that withstands the passage of time.
