Hublot continues to make a name for itself with its non-conformist approach to watchmaking, manifest in the Square Bang Unico

MAINTAINING RECOGNISABLE DNA CODES from the Big Bang and Classic Fusion from the brand’s iconic collections, the Square Bang is the first time that Hublot has ever made a square watch. Its own interpretation of the square watch, the Square Bang Unico adds a new pillar, The Shaped Collection, to sit alongside the Spirit of Big Bang.

Given the brand’s luxury sports watch ethos, construction of a modular squareshaped case was challenging given that timepieces of this geometry has unique characteristics that make robust water resistance difficult. It is nevertheless a challenge that the Nyon manufacture succeeded in overcoming to bestow up to 100 metres worth of resistance.

Furthermore, in combining central housing with an upper and lower plate, the brand is able to take its latest collection into a kaleidoscope of combinations and transformations as it is often wont to do.

The sandwich-style construction of the Square Bang’s dial gives it different levels of depth and an architectural feel. It also has the added benefit of displaying the Nyon watchmaker’s pride and joy of 10 years: the sophisticated in-house Unico chronograph with column wheel visible at six o’clock. A skeletonised bicompax chronograph further reveals its secret inner workings.

The Square Bang Unico is available in four series production 42mm models and one 250-piece limited edition: three are in solid titanium, black ceramic or King Gold and two remaining “two-tone” models blend titanium or King Gold with a black ceramic bezel. All models come with the much-appreciated One Click system making it an effortless process when changing the look of the Square Bang Unico with an impressive range of rubber, alligator and soft-touch leather straps.

The ‘Square Bang Unico All Black’ will be the only 250-piece limited edition of the Square Bang Unico collection.
