Is AI tak­ing away jobs?

AI is not the same as fac­tory automation or ro­bots, so AI is not tak­ing away many jobs. Like the in­ter­net, AI is an en­abling tech­nol­ogy, which is cre­at­ing whole new in­dus­tries. The first jobs cre­ated are for com­puter de­vel­op­ers, AI ex­perts and re­searchers, along with sales and mar­ket­ing peo­ple in new AI com­pa­nies. Other new jobs in­clude ed­u­ca­tors, lawyers, and reg­u­la­tors to help so­ci­ety ad­just to the chang­ing tech­nolo­gies. For tech­nolo­gies en­abled by AI such as self­driv­ing ve­hi­cles or smart build­ings, we will need con­struc­tion work­ers, en­gi­neers, and ar­chi­tects to build new in­fra­struc­ture.
