Short write-up on Jodi Picoult

Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Jodi Picoult studied in a creative writing program at Princeton University. It was where she honed her creative writing skills and wrote short stories that were later published in a magazine called Seventeen even though she was still only a student. Her love for writing took her down many different career paths where she found herself working as a writer at a brokerage firm on Wall Street, an editor of text books, a copywriter for an advertising agency and a teacher who taught English to 8th graders. Once she became a teacher she was inspired and entered Harvard University to earn her Master’s in Education. During this time she met and married her husband Tim and had her first book published while pregnant with her first child. Picoult says her biggest love in life is her children who have been her muses for many stories. While writing is her passion, she is a mother first and a writer second. She is currently living in Hanover, New Hampshire with her husband and three children as well as her many furry family members whom she loves dearly. She has many best sellers and is the winner of the New England Bookseller Award for Fiction.
