Beyond Horizons

Dear Readers,

-

Dear readers, it is never an easy task to publish a magazine especially in a local market that is already saturated with many choices. We aim to bring back the love of reading and a thirst for knowledge in this digital age where print media is fast being superseded by the digital media.

It is also our hope that through Horizons, a new generation of readers can access the knowledge-base of current thought such as environmental issues and concerns while still being amazed by the mountain of knowledge that we have yet to discover such as the truth behind the existence or non-existence of a monster shark – The Megalodon or how to improve ourselves with positive thinking. In this issue, we also travel to the exotic land of Thailand to experience its’ culture and tradition.

In addition, as students of the English language, we must get below the surface to the richer, deeper meaning of a text. All good texts have a deeper underlying meaning that can only be accessed by more sophisticated readers and the only way to become sophisticated in reading is to read – a lot! Horizons helps with this skill by not restricting ourselves to just one particular genre of writing or topic. We try to give the breadth and depth of coverage to aid in the acquisition of important reading skills.

Finally, we hope that you enjoy reading these articles and stories as much as we enjoyed putting them together for you. Just a hint though: Always look for the deeper meaning behind these articles, there’s always something richer for you to extract and perhaps apply to your own life.

Always exploring & learning, Team@horizons
