Solar electricity is presently produced in two ways:

Photovoltaic systems – these are solar panels that convert sunlight directly into electricity.

Concentrating solar power (CSP) systems – the use of mirrors or lenses and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. This concentrated light is then used as a heat source for a conventional thermal power plant.
