The Meeting Of The Waters

-

The very location of the city of Manaus is one of its most extraordinary attractions: the confluence of the rivers Negro (Black) and Solimões (how the Amazon River is known in this part of Brazil). The darker waters of the former and the muddy waters of the latter flow side by side for over 18 kilometres without mixing, forming one of the Amazon’s most magnificent sights, the “Meeting of the Waters”.

There are many tours, available by boat, which explore the Meeting of the Waters. You may also want to explore the river banks and “igarapes”, swim and canoe in calm lakes or just stroll in the luxurious forest. You may spend so much time there that staying in hotels in the jungle may be a good idea.
