For Singaporeans, there is much to look forward to on the sports front. Singapore will host the 28th edition of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in 2015. The SEA Games are a regional sports event that helps promote cooperation, understanding and relations among 11 countries in the Southeast Asian region. Most of the games will be held at the brand spanking new Singapore Sports Hub, which is currently being built at a cost of S$1.37bil. The Sports Hub will be a fully integrated sports, entertainment and lifestyle hub for everyone in Singapore. The Singapore Sports Festival will kick off events at the Sports Hub in June 2014 and it will be headlined by world-class floorball, swimming and rugby competitions. One of the region’s fiercest football rivalries will be reignited when Singapore host Malaysia at the venue on the eve of National Day, 8 August 2014.

The Sports Hub will benefit national athletes as well as Singaporeans practising sports recreationally. As a unique cluster development of integrated world-class sports facilities within the city, the hope is that it will play a critical role in accelerating the development of sports industry, excellence and participation, taking Singapore sports to the next level.the Sports Hub will also be a place where Singaporeans can shop, play, cheer and roar together as a nation under one roof.
