Failure of the United Nations (UN)

-

It has been reported that the UN failed to respond to early signals of distress in Sri Lanka, and as a result, failed to protect innocent victims of the Sri Lankan Civil War. UN staff members who were on the ground during the war were accused of abandoning the Sri Lankan people when they needed them most. An estimated 70,000 to 100,000 people were killed during this brutal war that lasted 26 years, but no one can confirm the death toll to date.

Find out what roles and responsibilities the UN undertakes in war zones and discuss if these roles and responsibilities are feasible at all times.
