French Revolution
For many centuries in France, the family to which someone was born would determine the status of the person from birth till death. No matter how hard the person worked, it was impossible for him or her to rise above this fate. This immutable gap between the wealthy and the poor created resentment among the poor, who were expected to work extremely hard in order to pay taxes which funded the lavish lifestyles of the wealthy. Then, something completely unimaginable took place. A group of commoners revolted against the rich, and surprisingly by virtue of their numbers, won the battle. This momentous event shed a light of hope for countless poverty-stricken peasants all over Europe and paved the way for a more hopeful future.
