First opening its doors in 2012, Artistry began as a casual eatery; a space where locals could come together for a cuppa and some desserts. Growing to now incorporate a fuller kitchen menu, it’s wooden tables and homely ambiance set the scene perfect scene for the café gallery, which features the works of budding artists.

From photography to paintings and illustrations, Artistry showcases both commercial art and those with a stronger social message. Yet, the art is not limited to the walls of the space as Artistry regularly hosts events. “We also do music and performance art,” says Prashant Somosundram, known as Prash, Artistry’s founder.

“We run a monthly thing called Speakeasy with poet Pooja Nansi, who was a 2016 Young Artist Award recipient from Singapore. She usually curates two poets and then we do readings of their work, or they perform,” Prash adds.
