When food meets culture

Balinese cooking classes and rice padi trekking tours are just some family-friendly activities that guests can expect at Wapa di Ume Resort & Spa.

The brainchild of Balinese architect I Ketut Siandana, Wapa di Ume Resort & Spa is a family-friendly resort that expresses the rustic charm of Bali. Flanked by verdant rice fields are 33 standalone units connected with the Laksmana Jula bridge; each accomodation offers a panoramic view of the lush rainforest.

The two-storey Family Villa features two spacious rooms – the villa comfortably houses six persons – and a balcony overlooking the vast rice fields, complete with a sunken bath, semi-open rain shower, and a private pool. The resort also has a two-tiered kid-friendly swimming pool and an infinity pool overlooking the rainforest.

Surrounded by the scenic paddy fields, the 80-seater Mr. Wayan, Balinese Cuisine brings to the table a slew of traditional Balinese dishes punctuated with native spices. The resort’s other dining establishment, Wapa’s Restaurant, offers a lipsmacking selection of Western-balinese dishes, as well as a kid’s menu. Enjoy their signature Bebek Goreng Di Ume – Balinese crispy duck with vegetables, ‘lawar’ rice and sambal chilli – while kids can enjoy Chicken Fingers or Spaghetti Carbonara. Nanny service is provided at both restaurants upon request.

For an interactive dining experience that is fun for everyone, go for the dinner-and-dance option at the resort’s outdoor amphitheatre. Be captivated by traditional dance performances put up by children from the village, and enjoy a one-of-a-kind Balinese dinner under the stars.

Interested in Balinese cooking? Tour the market before you get busy at an old-school Balinese kitchen compound facing the rice fields and an organic garden. A wonderful experience for the foodie family, the course takes you through a traditional three-course Balinese meal.

To get closer to nature, families can join the educational rice paddy trekking tour or set off on a cycling trip arranged by the resort. Following that, unwind and relax at Ume Spa, a three-storey modern Wapa-style treatment centre, complete with a whirlpool, beauty centre and two private massage rooms.
