Inside each of their oneto four-bedroom suite villas are curved and angled walls with natural furnishings made from tropical hardwoods, marble and stone from the Indonesian archipelago. Step out to the deck and you’ll find a private landscaped garden with a large swimming pool – perfect for kids to frolic on the grass and take a splash as parents lounge on sunbeds. There’s even a shallow paddling section of the pool for your tots; safety fences are available for hire.

The Layar goes the extra mile to make your family vacation as comfortable and fuss-free as possible – simply let the inhouse team know what you require and any kid’s equipment can be hired. The resort staff can assist to book numerous activities for family fun, whether it’s pony, horse or elephant riding, a visit to the Waterbom Bali water park, white water rafting or jungle trekking. Babysitters are also on hand (for a small charge) to keep your kids safe and occupied while you take a few hours off to explore Seminyak.

When it comes to scrumptious fare for both adults and kids, the in-house dining options and Settimo Cielo restaurant hit all the right notes. The former offers kid’s menus with fluffy hotcakes, spaghetti, mie goreng, and fish and chips, as well as baby food like steamed carrots or broccolis, avocado purée and mashed potato (subject to prior notice). The latter, right on The Layar’s doorstep, tantalises palates with chef Nicolas Lazzaroni’s modern yet soulsatisfying fare, such as beef ragu arancini with Parmesan aioli and crabmeat pappardelle.
