NANYANG-STYLE FLAVOURS

Epicure - - EPICURE NEWS -

Masterchef Asia 2015 winner Woo Wai Leong has launched his maiden restaurant venture, Restaurant Ibid, in a beautifully restored shophouse. Ibid, an abbreviated Latin word meaning ‘from the same source’, is an apt description of Woo’s menu that reflects Singaporean or rather, ‘Nanyang-style, Contemporary Chinese’ cuisine, and the search for one’s roots. Savour a beautiful sousvide Tea Egg steeped in a broth made from mandarin peel and pu-erh tea; a succulent Short Rib that goes excellently with pickled black fungus, Chinese pears and a jus made of chicken stock and Angelica root; and homemade Soy Milk Ice Cream accompanied by almond espuma, sesame cake and Sarawak pepper. While lunch service is not available yet, dinner features a choice of four-, six- or eight-course menus ($78/$88/$118). 18 North Canal Road. Tel: 9151 8698
