An UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy
Over 400 years of culinary heritage and a bustling fine dining scene later, Macau became the third Chinese city to be awarded the prestigious Creative City of Gastronomy by UNESCO last November. Macanese fare – a mix of Portuguese and Chinese cuisine – is not only regarded as one of the world’s first fusion foods, but also a vanguard of the country’s unique east-meets-west identity. The rise of upscale restaurants by world-class chefs further cements Macau's spot on the global culinary stage.
