Kawai also reveals La Terre's considerable whisky collection to showcase this legendary Japanese single malt, Hanyu from Cask #2812, numbered 22/1305. Whisky lovers – who comprise about 15 percent of Kawai’s regulars – are able to opt for a dram instead of having to order the whole bottle (which is priced above $10,000) to learn more about the now-shuttered distillery. Kawai notes that the whisky exudes warm notes of mixed Christmas-like spices, with more layers than Karuizawa (the other legendary closed distillery). With limited stocks around the world, this bottle was specially sourced by Kawai’s business partners.
