DOLLY CHEONG, financial controller of Lifeline Medical Group DR BERNARD CHEONG, chief executive officer and partner of Lifeline Medical Group Describe a day in the life of Bernard and Dolly.

Dolly: I work mostly from my home office. After more than 30 years, the Lifeline Group of companies have matured and work basically hums along, barring any unexpected situations which may crop up. There's the occasional lunch with friends too, and social events in the evenings.

Bernard: A leisurely day of work starts at the clinic, in the mornings. I will exercise in the late afternoon in front of Netflix, books and audiobooks. I look forward to dinners with family, especially when Dolly is cooking each week.

Bernard, what are some of the challenges you face at Lifeline Medical Group?

Bernard: With the era of the internet and mobile phones has changed how medical doctors work and treat their patients. The internet has made it a new profession for me – modalities of practice and beliefs changed. But my persona as doctor has a singular moral compass, which is to deliver only good even at one's own peril.

Tell us about a recent meal that blew both of you away.

Dolly: We were recently invited to a meal at Kilo Kitchen. We had no expectations whatsoever before stepping foot there. The atmosphere was casual and inviting. We were impressed by our salad of kale, which was full of smoky charred flavour. Coming from Bernard who does not like vegetables, that's no mean feat! The main course of octopus leg and beef short ribs was equally good and satisfying. Both of us have simple tastes; as long as the food is wellcooked and tasty, we are happy.

Where’s your favourite haunt for a quick meal?

Dolly: I cook a fair bit at home, but on lazy nights, we would drop by io Italian Osteria at Hillv2 which is near our home. The food is good and nothing beats not having to brave heavy traffic to get to a restaurant. Bernard: As a dad who loves ice cream, I am biased toward Kindred Folk at King Albert Park, which is owned by my daughter. My guilty pleasure is to have ice cream with a glass of The Macallan 15 Year Old double single malt.
