Waiting for Sundays
Gather the family on Sundays as children dine for free at Marco Pierre White’s English House. The four-course Sunday Roast ($75) is available from 12 to 8pm, and includes canapés, a starter, roast or mainboard item and dessert. Diners can opt for classic items, including roast chicken, honey roast pork belly with sage and onion stuffing, or roast rib of Black Angus with traditional Yorkshire pudding and creamed horseradish. All roast dishes are served with braised cabbage, Swede purée, roast potatoes, buttered peas and gravy.
Of the five other mainboard items, cod and chips is a familiar favourite, while the essential Omelette Arnold Bennett – a baked omelette with Parmesan, Mornay sauce and smoked haddock – is a lighter but no less satisfying dish. End with a dessert, preferably the excellent bitter chocolate mousse served with crème Chantilly and hazelnut nougatine. Helmed by chef de cuisine Andrew Bennett, the restaurant’s larger à la carte menu will be available from 5.30pm on Sundays. 28 Mohammed Sultan Road.
