Have you ever won­dered what hap­pens to Ne­spresso’s alu­minium pods once all that cof­fee has gone into your cup? This year the cof­fee gi­ant is work­ing with an­other lo­cal farm (last year was with Quan Fa Or­ganic Farm), Sky Greens, a low-car­bon ur­ban ver­ti­cal farm with sev­eral ac­co­lades for their in­no­va­tive hy­drauli­cally and grav­i­ta­tion­ally-pow­ered ver­ti­cal farm­ing sys­tem. Part of Ne­spresso’s One Pod at a Time sus­tain­abil­ity cam­paign, the cof­fee grounds from re­cy­cled cap­sules are mixed with ma­nure pel­lets from lo­cal farms and veg­eta­bles waste to make fer­tiliser and or­ganic com­post for Sky Greens.
