Caribbean taste

After a succession of pop-ups, London-born Caribbean social club, Island Social Club has found a permanent base inside Curio Cabal in Haggerston for a long-term residency. The creation of chef Marie Mitchell and Joseph Pilgrim, it operates in the evenings from Wednesday to Sunday. Rum-based cocktails go well with Curry Goat, British Goat shoulder marinated for 24 hours, and slow-cooked with spices, thyme, ginger and garlic, and a flavourful French-inspired chicken and coconut stew. The star of the menu is the raved-about house-made rotis with fluffy insides.

That’s not all; Island Social Club has teamed up with British Caribbean DJS on every last Friday of the month for a night of dancing and drinking. Chairs and tables will be removed to make way for some serious boogie. And on every first Sunday of the month, the Caribbean restaurant will welcome an artist from the Black British art scene. 258 Kingsland Road, Haggerston, E8 4DG. Tel: +44 207 254 4945
