CHATSWORTH

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

-

Kenya Barros, Brazilian,

K1 Homeroom Teacher

I’ve been teaching at

Chatsworth since 2018. I’m a pedagogist specialised in

Early Childhood Education with a Masters degree in

Education from Framingham

State University, MA, USA and professional education certificates in Early Childhood and Leadership from Harvard University, MA, US.

Chatsworth is a community that’s welcoming and friendly – I enjoy the multicultural environment and how the school leaders support us on our very best teaching practices. I enjoy the fun and creative learning environment, too – it’s rewarding to ignite the “spark” of learning and curiosity in the early years.

A memorable moment for me was setting up a clay and pottery centre in my classroom. The school supported me to implement early childhood learning areas inspired by the constructivism and Reggio Emilia approach and the IB play-based curriculum. It’s rewarding to see the children at the clay and pottery centre and our unit of inquiry-inspired play area where they can transit through the areas carefully designed to provide them an enriching learning experience.

THE SCHOOL SAYS…

We’re a diverse IB school where the Chatsworth community forms a core element of the school identity – it’s founded on a culture of respect and positive engagement. As a non-selective and nurturing school situated near Singapore’s tropical rainforest, we provide high-quality international education at moderate fees.

What’s new?

Our early childhood centre opened in August 2020 and caters to learners aged three to five years (K1 and K2). The purpose-built centre is equipped with stimulating classrooms and facilities for learning and playing. A customised play area just outside the classroom includes a sandpit and water-play space that’s tailored specifically for young children. 72 Bukit Tinggi Road
