INTEGRATED INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

-

Garrett Leister, American, Vice Principal and Grade 7 & 8 teacher

I’ve been an educator for 13 years in three different countries. I’ve been in Singapore for three and a half years and teaching at IIS for the entire duration. My specialty at the school is special education, behaviour management and modification, music and science.

My favourite aspect of teaching at IIS is the loving family atmosphere cultivated here. Community is one of our core values, along with kindness and respect, which truly makes for a special experience for our students, parents and teacher population. Due to the intimate size of our school, I’ve loved the opportunities to interact and bond with students across all grade levels in the school.

The end-of-year performance is one of our usual highlights of the school year. When it was cancelled in 2020 due to restrictions, the individual classes created special video projects to share with the parents. My class decided to write, record and produce their own song and music video about the IIS values of kindness, respect, community and redefining success. Each student got their moment to shine in the video and I was proud to see our “superstars” exude our values and find comfort in the school environment after a year filled with changes.

THE SCHOOL SAYS…

While providing a welcoming learning environment, our goal is to challenge students to achieve the highest level of their own personal definition of success. Our educators are uniquely qualified to adapt lesson plans to each individual student’s strengths or preferred learning style. We offer additional on-campus support, smaller class sizes with a teacherstudent ratio of 1:6 and two learning approaches – mainstream and mainstream with support.

What’s new?

We always keep our students’ socio-emotional wellbeing at the forefront. We’ve recently expanded our campus with new classrooms and a tranquil library space/computer room to provide our students a safe and accessible area that they can freely access when they need a break. 41 Sunset Way, #01-01 6466 4475 | iis.edu.sg
