I’ve been at the school for five years but I began as the Education Outside The

Classroom Coordinator and

Health & Physical Education teacher. This was a unique role that allowed me to build and contribute to the rich CCA, sports and trips programme at the school. As I progressed to being a Deputy Head, I felt like I knew the school, the learners and our families so well because of that job; It was a really useful journey for me and I’m grateful for it.

What I enjoy most about teaching are the “eureka” moments, when something suddenly makes sense to a learner. I feel that the role of educators is to help learners make sense of the world around them and facilitating that journey is a rewarding experience. There’s nothing quite like the beam across a child’s face when they’ve mastered or understood something they’ve been grappling with. It’s one of the reasons that I’m pleased to be introducing the Middle Years Programme (MYP) this academic year – it encourages deep inquiry and critical thinking – and that is what Nexus is all about!

THE SCHOOL SAYS…

We’re an international school with children from over 50 different nationalities, catering to learners aged three to 18. We offer the IB Curricula (PYP, MYP and DP), English National Curriculum and IGCSE curricula for Years 10 and 11. We encourage our children to take charge of their own learning from a young age. This fosters a spirit of ownership, responsibility and even risk-taking. This is important in today’s rapidly changing world to ensure that they’re constantly nurturing the right characteristics that will allow them to stay relevant as they grow into adulthood.

What’s new?

We are a candidate school to offer the MYP Curriculum. We’ve introduced IB MYP for all Year 7 learners in August 2021 for academic year 2021/2022, Year 8 in AY 2022/2023 and Year 9 in AY 2023/2024. Students continue with the English National curriculum in the meantime.
