ONE WORLD INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

-

Fiona Watson, British,

Grade 2 teacher

I started teaching at OWIS in January 2019 and I’ve just started teaching my third class of

Grade 2 students. There are two aspects that I really enjoy about teaching at OWIS: firstly, getting to know each child’s unique personality at the start of the academic year and working with them to ensure that they develop both socially and academically at their own pace over the year; secondly, working alongside my colleagues across all year groups. The OWIS teaching staff are a professional, committed and enthusiastic team who all work well together to produce a holistic, caring and safe teaching and learning environment for everyone throughout the campus.

As we’re an international school, I especially enjoy all the cultural celebrations that the staff and students participate in. There’s a very diverse cultural population in Singapore and we celebrate every culture and religious holiday. I love that this teaches our students that all cultures, races and religions are equal to each other and should be celebrated by all. Another favourite day is International Day. With over 70 nationalities at OWIS, this day is dedicated to celebrating where in the world we are from. I always get a bit emotional during the Flag Parade when seeing so many countries represented by our students.

THE SCHOOL SAYS…

We are a multicultural international school with a nurturing and engaging learning approach, where children can focus on exploration, inquiry and collaboration to grow their skills and knowledge.

What’s new?

We have a new campus at Suntec, for Kindergarten to Grade 5 (with plans to expand to Grade 8). Here, children can engage in inquiry-led, play-based learning and grow holistically through a robust CCA programme and kindness-based value system. 21 Jurong West Street 81 6914 6700 | owis.org
