Prior to moving to Singapore, Alejandra and Carmen studied at a public school in Madrid and barely spoke English. When we moved to Singapore, our main priority was how our kids could fit into their new reality. A key element of our decision was the Study Preparation Program by Overseas Family School, which provides rapid onboarding of non-native English speakers. What set OFS apart was its incredible attention to care. Students benefit from small class sizes and a unique, full immersion experience that facilitates the acquisition of both social and academic language vocabulary.

When we became aware that OFS also had the most extensive mother tongue programme offered by a Singapore international school, Carmen and Alejandra joined this programme as soon as they were fully integrated in terms of their English language skills. The best thing we can say about it is that there wasn’t any reintegration required when we returned to Spain. In their current school, our children were incorporated directly into mainstream classes, without any special support. Their teachers were extremely surprised that after five years abroad they were able to get good marks in all of their subjects without this support.
